Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) has executed two significant agreements. First, a five-year Master Regasification Agreement (MRA) with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for LNG regasification at PLL’s Dahej terminal. Second, a one-year Master Agreement with Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) for the sale of regasified LNG. These agreements aim to enhance PLL’s market position and optimize gas supply.
ONGC Regasification Agreement
Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Limited have entered into a five-year Master Regasification Agreement (MRA) effective from January 27, 2026. Under the agreement, PLL will provide LNG regasification services to ONGC at its Dahej regasification terminal, enabling ONGC to supply regasified natural gas to its customers. The agreement allows for a potential extension based on mutual agreement between both parties.
This partnership supports ONGC’s strategy to supplement domestic natural gas production and address growing demand. The signing took place during India Energy Week 2026, with key representatives from both companies present.
Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) Sales Agreement
PLL has also executed a one-year Master Agreement with Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) for the sale of Regasified LNG, starting January 27, 2026. According to the agreement, PLL will undertake the procurement of LNG cargoes and sell RLNG to MGL. The agreement offers MGL operational and supply flexibility and may be extended by mutual consent.
This agreement aligns with PLL’s objective to optimize its regasification infrastructure and offer integrated LNG sourcing and regasification services, including to City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities. This supports the supply of gas to consumers.
Petronet LNG Capacity and Expansion
PLL currently commands 43% of India’s LNG regasification capacity and manages approximately 2/3rd of the nation’s LNG imports. The company’s turnover was approximately INR 51,000 crore in FY 2024-25.
PLL has two LNG regasification terminals, one in Dahej, Gujarat, and another in Kochi, Kerala, totaling a regasification capacity of 22.5 MMTPA. They are increasing the Dahej terminal capacity from 17.5 MMTPA to 22.5 MMTPA. Moreover, PLL is setting up a greenfield LNG regasification terminal of 5 MMTPA capacity on the East Coast of India at Gopalpur, Odisha, along with a 750 KTA PDH and 500 KTA PP unit at Dahej, Gujarat.
