Patel Engineering Limited (PEL), a seasoned infrastructure company established in 1949, announced on February 23, 2026, that its joint venture (JV) consortium has emerged as the Lowest Bidder (L1) for a substantial irrigation contract.
The project, awarded by the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation, is valued at Rs. 133.25 crore. Patel Engineering’s proportionate share in this contract amounts to Rs. 67.96 crore.
Project Scope and Location Details
This winning bid is for works related to the Guruvarya Late Laxmanraoji Inamdar Lift Irrigation Scheme, specifically covering the development of a closed pipe distribution system under the Tasgaon Lift Irrigation Scheme.
The scope encompasses the construction of critical components such as head works, pump houses, switch yards, rising mains, and delivery chambers, alongside the installation of pumping machinery and associated civil, mechanical, and electrical works.
The project sites are spread across six villages—Tasgaon, Varne, Karandwadi, Devkarwadi, Degaon, and Nigadi—within Satara Taluka, Satara District. The JV, where PEL holds a 51% share, aims to serve an irrigable command area (ICA) of 2,277 hectares.
The execution timeline for this comprehensive project is set at 48 months.
Distribution Network Specifics
A key element of the work involves laying a closed pipe distribution network. This includes the excavation of deep trenches for laying rising mains and the subsequent provision, supply, lowering, laying, and jointing of various pipe materials, including mild steel (M.S.) pipes, prestressed cement concrete pipes (P.C.C.P.), and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes.
