Ola Electric Launches First ‘Shakti’ Battery Storage System from Gigafactory

Ola Electric has launched its first residential Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), named ‘Shakti’, from its Gigafactory in Krishnagiri. This marks the company’s entry into the residential BESS market, powered by indigenous 4680 Bharat Cells. Ola Shakti will be available in configurations of 1.5 kWh, 3 kWh, 5.2 kWh, and 9.1 kWh, designed for modern Indian households, farms, and businesses.

Ola Electric has launched its first residential BESS product, ‘Shakti’, manufactured at its Gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. This marks a significant milestone towards scaling-up the 4680 Bharat Cell platform and extends the company’s operations beyond the automotive sector.

‘Shakti’ BESS Details

The ‘Shakti’ BESS is powered by Ola’s indigenous 4680 Bharat Cells and is fully designed, engineered, and manufactured domestically. Ola states that ‘Shakti’ represents a shift in how Indians will access, control, and consume energy. It is designed as a portable, on-demand resource for various applications.

‘Shakti’ Configurations and Availability

  • 3kW/5.2kWh
  • 6kW/9.1kWh

The system can power various appliances, including air conditioners, refrigerators, and farm pumps. It features charging times as fast as 2 hours and backup capacity of up to 1.5 hours on full load.
