Ola Electric has begun deliveries of its Shakti 9.1kWh residential Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), the first of its kind designed and manufactured in India. The company also announced it has secured BIS certification for both the 9.1kWh and 5.2kWh configurations of Ola Shakti, ensuring safety and environmental standards. Deliveries for the 6kW/9.1kWh variant have started in Bengaluru, with plans to scale across India.
Residential BESS Solution
Ola Electric has commenced deliveries of Ola Shakti 9.1kWh, marking the launch of the country’s first residential Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solution powered by 4680 Bharat Cells. Deliveries of the 6kW/9.1kWh configuration of Ola Shakti have commenced in Bengaluru and are set to expand across India in the upcoming months.
BIS Certification Secured
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification has been secured for the 3kW/5.2kWh configuration of Ola Shakti, following the earlier certification for the 6kW/9.1kWh variant on January 15, 2026. This makes Ola Electric certified to manufacture and sell both versions of Ola Shakti throughout India.
Safety and Environmental Standards
The 3kW/5.2kWh variant underwent BIS mandatory certification in accordance with safety and environmental standards, including compliance with IS 16242 (PART1): 2025 / IEC 62040-1: 2017. This covers evaluations for short-circuit protection, overload protection, electric shock protection, and various hazard protections.
Ola Shakti Features
Ola Shakti features instant 0 ms changeover time and operates across a wide input voltage range of 170V-270V, protecting appliances from voltage fluctuations. It is also spill-proof with IP67-rated batteries tested for dust, water, and monsoon conditions.
Availability and Pricing
Ola Shakti is available in two configurations:
- 3kW/5.2kWh: Priced at ₹1,49,999
- 6kW/9.1kWh: Priced at ₹2,49,999
The system can power air conditioners, refrigerators, induction cookers, farm pumps, and communication equipment. It features fast charging times and a backup capacity of up to 1.5 hours on full load. Ola Shakti can be purchased on the Ola Electric website and at Ola Electric stores across India.
