The appointment of Shri Seshan, currently the Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG), is effective from March 9, 2026. His tenure is established for a period of three years on a co-terminus basis, or until further orders are issued, whichever occurs sooner.
It is noted that Shri Seshan is not debarred from holding the office by any existing regulatory order.

Shri Vinod Seshan is an officer belonging to the 2008 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Assam Cadre. He possesses extensive professional experience spanning over 20 years, specializing in policy making, implementation, Development and Infrastructure Project Management, and District Administration.
Key Experience Highlights:
- He has previously served on the Boards of major government companies, including OIL India and HPCL.
- His academic qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electronics & Communication) and a Master’s degree in Public Policy, Infrastructure, Investments, and Finance from the University College London.
- Before joining the IAS, Mr. Seshan held roles in the software services sector focusing on development, testing, and knowledge management.
