NTPC Limited has announced the successful uprating of Unit no. 5 and 6 at the Dadri Thermal Power Station. Each unit’s capacity has been increased from 490 MW to 500 MW, effective April 7, 2026. This enhancement contributes to the overall growth of the company’s generation footprint, bringing the total installed capacity of the NTPC group to 89,128 MW, with a commercial capacity now reaching 88,048 MW.
Capacity Expansion at Dadri
As part of its ongoing efforts to optimize asset performance, NTPC Limited has officially uprated two key units at the Dadri Thermal Power Station. Following approval, Unit no. 5 and 6 have both seen their operational capacity rise to 500 MW each, up from the previous rating of 490 MW. This operational upgrade became effective on April 7, 2026.
Impact on Group Capacity
The successful uprating of these units has further strengthened the company’s power generation portfolio. The NTPC group now reports a total installed capacity of 89,128 MW. Furthermore, the company’s commercial capacity has been bolstered to 88,048 MW, reinforcing its position as a key player in the Indian power sector.
