NTPC Green Energy Limited Declares Commercial Operation for 168.02 MW of Solar Projects

NTPC Green Energy Limited announced that two tranches of its solar PV projects in Gujarat have achieved Commercial Operation (COD). A 78.02 MW part of the Khavda-I project and a 90 MW part of the Khavda-II project are now operational as of March 31, 2026. This addition increases the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Group from 9,907.68 MW to 10,075.70 MW, significantly bolstering its renewable energy portfolio.

Commercial Operation Milestone Achieved

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has formally declared the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for key components of two major solar photovoltaic (PV) projects located in Gujarat. This declaration is made in compliance with regulatory requirements for material events.

Details of Commissioned Capacity

The announcement covers the successful commissioning of two distinct segments:

  • The twelfth and final capacity segment totaling 78.02 MW, derived from the 1255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project, achieved COD effective 00:00 hrs on March 31, 2026. This project is housed under NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary.
  • The sixth capacity segment totaling 90 MW, drawn from the 1200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project, also achieved COD effective 00:00 hrs on March 31, 2026. This project is likewise managed by NTPC REL.

Impact on Total Group Capacity

With the commissioning of these tranches, the installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group has seen a substantial uplift.

Prior to this announcement, the current commercial capacity stood at 9,907.68 MW. Following the addition of the 78.02 MW and 90 MW segments, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group has increased to 10,075.70 MW. This successful execution underscores NGEL’s commitment to expanding India’s renewable energy infrastructure.
