Motilal Oswal Financial Services Settlement Reached Over Algo Platform Association

Motilal Oswal Financial Services (MOFSL) announced the settlement of enforcement proceedings initiated by regulatory scrutiny concerning associations with certain algorithmic trading platforms that allegedly offered guaranteed returns. The company has availed the SEBI Settlement Scheme, 2025, by paying a settlement amount of Rs. 1,00,000/-. This action resolves pending adjudication proceedings without admitting to any fault, ensuring no material impact on financial operations.

Resolution of Algo Platform Scrutiny

Motilal Oswal Financial Services Limited has formally disclosed the successful conclusion of proceedings related to its association with specific algorithmic trading platforms. Regulatory examination had indicated that APIs of 122 stock brokers, including MOFSL, were integrated with platforms describing strategies that implied guaranteed profits.

Availing the Settlement Scheme

To manage the regulatory burden effectively and conclude pending matters, the Company opted to participate in the “Settlement Scheme on Association with Certain Algo Platforms, 2025”. MOFSL submitted the necessary details and remitted the applicable settlement fee through SEBI’s online portal on June 15, 2025.

Key Settlement Terms Confirmed

As a direct result of utilizing the Scheme, the following key conditions have been agreed upon:

  • The Company shall not continue the proceedings already initiated against the applicants for the aforementioned defaults.
  • SEBI will not initiate any further action against the said applicants in respect of the stated defaults.

Financial and Operational Status

The Company confirmed that the actions taken to address these observations, including the settlement, will have no material impact on financial, operation, or other activities of the Company. The settlement amount paid was Rs. 1,00,000/- for the investigation carried out by SEBI concerning the association with certain algo platforms offering assured returns.
