Le Travenues Technology, the parent company of ixigo and ConfirmTkt, has announced a strategic partnership with Swiggy to revolutionize the ‘Food on Train’ experience. This collaboration integrates Swiggy’s vast restaurant network into the ixigo and ConfirmTkt apps, allowing train travellers to order meals from over 40,000 restaurants across 160+ stations. The service includes real-time order tracking and the convenience of having meals delivered directly to passenger berths.
Enhanced Culinary Experience for Rail Travellers
By integrating Swiggy’s extensive restaurant ecosystem into the ixigo and ConfirmTkt platforms, travellers can now access a wider range of meal choices during their journeys. The service aims to bridge the gap between home-cooked food and transit dining by offering everything from national brands to regional specialties. Travellers can place orders from 4 days up to 30 minutes before their train reaches a station, with Swiggy providing a guarantee of delivery or a full refund.
Strategic Synergy and Convenience
The partnership leverages ixigo’s AI-based travel technology and Swiggy’s delivery infrastructure to solve the common challenge of accessing hygienic food on long-distance routes. Sripad Vaidya, COO of ixigo Trains & ConfirmTkt, highlighted that the initiative is designed to simplify the travel journey, while Deepak Maloo, VP of Food Strategy at Swiggy, noted that the service brings the same quality and value to rail passengers that they expect when ordering from home.
Changing Trends in Transit Dining
Data from the collaboration reveals a shift in consumer behavior, with a growing preference for regional staples like Vada Pav, Adai, and Litti Chokha alongside traditional favorites like Biryani. Notably, nearly 14% of orders are placed by family members for loved ones traveling, demonstrating the platform’s role in facilitating group feasts and family care during transit. This service is now live, and users can access it by updating their ixigo or ConfirmTkt applications.
