Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced on March 25, 2026, that its Water & Effluent Treatment (WET) vertical has won a significant design-build-operate order in Assam. The contract was awarded by the Guwahati Metropolitan Drinking Water & Sewerage Board for a major water management project.
This project is conceptualized as a 24×7 water management initiative, specifically designed to deliver safe and continuous water supply to households located in South-East Guwahati, thereby enhancing the reliability of the city’s existing water infrastructure.
Scope of Work Details
The comprehensive scope of work for L&T includes the design, supply, installation, construction, testing, and commissioning of several critical components. These include a barge-mounted intake system, raw water rising main, a new water treatment plant, reservoirs, a booster pumping station, and the final distribution network complete with household service connections.
Furthermore, L&T’s commitment extends beyond construction, as the scope also encompasses a fully integrated SCADA system for real-time monitoring and performance management. The contract includes operation & maintenance for five years post-commissioning.
