Larsen & Toubro has secured significant orders in India and abroad for STATCOM and SCADA systems. These projects focus on enhancing grid stability and resilience. Key projects include revamping power distribution with SCADA in India and constructing STATCOM systems in the UAE. The orders reinforce L&T’s commitment to building future-ready grid infrastructure and sustainability goals.
Significant Grid Infrastructure Wins
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced new orders in the Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business. These include projects focused on grid infrastructure in India and abroad, specifically Distribution SCADA and Dynamic Reactive Power Compensation devices. The announcement was made on September 17, 2025.
Details of the Indian Order
In India, the order involves revamping power distribution using SCADA and smart technology integration in two towns. This includes jobs related to distribution transformer stations and converting overhead electrical lines into underground cabling.
UAE Project Specifications
The project in the UAE includes the design, delivery, and construction of two ±300 MVAr STATCOM systems. These will be installed at existing 400 kV substations. These systems will provide automated and instantaneous response to deter system fluctuations, improving power quality by injecting or absorbing reactive power in real time, thus stabilizing voltage.
Order from Oman
An additional order has been secured from Oman. This involves establishing a 400/132 kV grid station, along with an associated 400 kV transmission line segment.
Strategic Importance
These orders are classified as ‘Large’. They underscore L&T’s dedication to building future-ready grid infrastructure, supporting energy transition, and achieving the sustainability goals of its customers.
