These notices, initially issued on January 21, 2025, claimed tax arrears of ₹15,48,06,528 relating to a transaction undertaken by an unincorporated Joint Venture (IVRCL-KBL-MEIL).
Background of the Issue
The initial notices were related to a project with the Water Resources Department of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Subsequently, a demand notice dated August 5, 2025, claimed tax arrears of ₹15,48,02,928 for the year 2017-18. The company responded by filing a Writ Petition challenging the demand notice.
Legal Proceedings and Withdrawal
Kirloskar Brothers informed the stock exchanges about filing a Writ Petition on August 12, 2025, and obtaining an interim stay against recovery proceedings. An endorsement (letter) dated November 20, 2025, received from The Deputy Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, Dwarakanagar Circle, Visakhapatnam-I Division, confirms that all alleged demand notices issued to the directors of the Company have been officially withdrawn.
