Jindal Stainless is doubling its slag processing capacity with a new wet milling plant in Jajpur, Odisha. This initiative supports expanded operations and circularity goals by recovering metal from industrial waste, conserving resources, and creating approximately 140 new jobs. The company is partnering with Harsco Environmental, committing USD 150 million to build and operate the plant under a 15-year partnership.

Jindal Stainless is significantly expanding its slag processing capabilities with the introduction of a new wet milling plant at its Jajpur, Odisha facility. This move aims to support the company’s growth and commitment to circular economy principles. The project will help in recovering valuable metal resources from industrial waste, therefore promoting resource conservation.
Partnership with Harsco Environmental
The project is being undertaken in partnership with Harsco Environmental, a global leader in providing environmental solutions to the metals industry. Jindal Stainless will invest USD 150 million to build and operate the plant under a 15-year partnership. This collaboration builds upon a long-standing relationship between the two companies.

Commitment to Sustainability
This initiative is an integral part of Jindal Stainless’ Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals and commitment to achieve Net Zero by 2050. In FY25, the company reduced its carbon footprint by approximately 14% through various decarbonisation initiatives. These efforts include establishing India’s first green hydrogen plant for powering stainless steel production and installing the largest captive solar energy plant within a single industrial campus in Odisha.
