IndiGo Airline Announces Revision to Fuel Charges Effective April 2, 2026

IndiGo has announced a revision to its fuel charges on domestic and international routes, effective from 0001 hours on April 2, 2026. This adjustment follows a significant surge in global jet fuel prices, which have climbed over 130% in the region over the last month. To mitigate rising operational costs, the airline is introducing tiered fuel charges based on travel distance and destination.

Rising Operational Costs

Following a 130% month-on-month increase in jet fuel prices as indicated by IATA, IndiGo is adjusting its pricing structure. While the government has intervened to limit the impact on domestic operations to a 25% increase, the airline has recalibrated its charges to reflect current market realities while aiming to maintain travel affordability for customers.

Domestic Flight Adjustments

Starting April 2, 2026, IndiGo will implement distance-based fuel charges for domestic travel. The charges are structured as follows: INR 275 for distances up to 500 kms, INR 400 for 501–1,000 kms, INR 600 for 1,001–1,500 kms, INR 800 for 1,501–2,000 kms, and INR 950 for flights exceeding 2,000 kms.

International Route Revisions

Due to ATF prices more than doubling over the past month, international routes face higher revisions. Key adjustments include: INR 900 to 2,500 for the Indian Subcontinent, INR 3,000 to 5,000 for GCC and Middle East, INR 3,500 to 5,000 for Southeast Asia and China, INR 5,000 for Africa, INR 7,500 for Greece and Turkey, and INR 10,000 for UK & Europe routes.

Commitment to Affordable Travel

IndiGo maintains that it has passed on only a portion of the actual fuel price hikes to passengers to minimize the financial burden. The airline remains committed to monitoring global fuel trends and will continue to adjust its policies to ensure both operational viability and consistent service quality for its 124 million customers.
