Hyundai Motor India has announced a leadership transition. Mr. Unsoo Kim is returning to Hyundai Motor Company in South Korea effective December 31, 2025. He will be succeeded by Mr. Tarun Garg, currently Whole-time Director, as the new Managing Director & CEO from January 01, 2026, subject to shareholder approval. The board expressed appreciation for Mr. Kim’s contributions.
Leadership Transition
Hyundai Motor India’s Board of Directors has approved a succession plan. Current Managing Director, Mr. Unsoo Kim, will return to Hyundai Motor Company in South Korea, concluding his role on December 31, 2025. The board acknowledged Mr. Kim’s valuable service to the company.
New Managing Director & CEO
Mr. Tarun Garg, currently serving as Whole-time Director, will take over as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 01, 2026. This appointment is subject to shareholder approval. Until the effective date, Mr. Garg will serve as MD & CEO designate.
About Tarun Garg
Mr. Tarun Garg is a Mechanical Engineer from Delhi Technological University and holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow. Before joining Hyundai Motor India, he had a career with Maruti Suzuki India Limited, where he held positions such as Regional Sales Manager, Commercial Business Head, and Executive Director of Marketing, Logistics, Parts and Accessories.
Mr. Garg is noted for his market insights and ability to translate trends into practical strategies. He has also promoted technological advancements like the introduction of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in multiple models.
Mr. Garg has no familial or business relationship with any other Director on the Board of the Company.
