Hyundai Tarun Garg Appointed First Indian MD & CEO

Tarun Garg has been appointed as the Managing Director & CEO of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), effective January 01, 2026. He is the first Indian national to head HMIL in its 29-year history. Under his leadership, Hyundai will focus on future-ready mobility and customer-centricity, with a ₹45,000 crore investment roadmap.

New Leadership at Hyundai Motor India

Tarun Garg has officially taken charge as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) as of January 01, 2026. This marks the first time an Indian national has led HMIL since its inception 29 years ago.

Strategic Focus

Under Mr. Garg’s leadership, Hyundai Motor India will focus on:

  • Future-Ready Strategy: Accelerating EVs, hybrids, and connected mobility with a ₹45,000 crore investment by FY 2030.
  • People & Market Focus: Empowering employees and strengthening HMIL’s dealer and supplier networks.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Deepening trust and delivering seamless experiences across all HMIL touchpoints.

Garg’s Background

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Garg held positions as Head of Sales, Service & Marketing, and Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer at HMIL. HMIL achieved record-breaking sales for three consecutive years, delivered highest-ever profitability, and successfully executed the largest IPO in Indian equity markets in 2024 under his guidance.
