Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) has signed non-binding Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on October 29th, 2025, during India Maritime Week 2025. These MoUs aim to foster collaboration and financing in maritime and coastal infrastructure projects, including ports, waterways, and shipbuilding, potentially involving projects worth approximately ₹80,000 Crore.
Strategic Collaborations for Maritime Development
HUDCO has formalized its intent to collaborate on key maritime infrastructure projects through the signing of multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during the ongoing India Maritime Week 2025. These agreements focus on exploring opportunities for joint financing and development across various segments of the maritime sector.
MoU with Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited (SMFCL)
HUDCO’s MoU with Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited (SMFCL) aims to explore joint financing opportunities in maritime and coastal infrastructure projects. The focus areas include:
- Ports, harbors, terminals, and associated connectivity infrastructure.
- Development of Inland Water Transport infrastructure and waterway vessels.
- Renewable and green energy initiatives in maritime zones.
- Support for shipbuilding and ship repair infrastructure, including modernization of shipyards and dry docks.
- Development of logistics and multi-modal infrastructure.
The overall cost estimate for collaborative projects under this MoU is approximately ₹80,000 Crore during the entire period of the MoU.
MoU with Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPA)
The MoU with Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPA) focuses on cooperation between SMPA and HUDCO. HUDCO will explore opportunities to collaborate with project implementing agencies selected by SMPA and provide funds up to ₹3000 Crore towards meeting funding requirements for new and existing projects.
The collaboration aims to cover the development, modernization, and upgradation of port and allied infrastructure projects of SMPA. It also includes organizing joint conferences and workshops for capacity and capability building of both organizations.
