Hero MotoCorp has received appeal orders from the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) concerning reassessment orders for assessment years spanning 2013-14 to 2017-18 and 2019-20. The ruling, dated March 09 and 10, 2026, substantially reduces the total tax demand liability from Rs. 177.96 crore down to Rs. 27 crore. The company plans to appeal further for the remaining demand balance.

Income Tax Appeal Outcome Announced

Hero MotoCorp Limited issued an intimation regarding the receipt of appeal orders from the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) – 29. These orders were received on March 11, 2026, relating to appeals previously filed against reassessment orders.

Significant Reduction in Tax Demand

The received orders pertain to the assessment years 2013-14 to 2017-18 and 2019-20. The most significant development is the drastic reduction in the outstanding tax demand. The initial demand of Rs. 177.96 crore has been reduced to Rs. 27 crore as a result of the appellate authority’s ruling.

Next Steps and Further Actions

Although there has been a major favorable outcome, the Company will proceed with filing appeals before the higher appellate authorities for the remaining balance tax demands. Concurrently, Hero MotoCorp will file necessary applications for refunds or demand reductions, as applicable based on the new orders.

Status of Other Proceedings

The company confirmed that the details required under Regulation 30 regarding litigation against key management personnel or settlement of proceedings are not applicable at this time, as the matter strictly concerns corporate tax demands.
