HCLTech Company Adds Three New Network Automation rApps to Ericsson’s rApp Directory

HCLTech announced the inclusion of three new network automation RAN applications (rApps) into Ericsson’s rApp Directory, which supports the Intelligent Automation Platform (EIAP). This expansion deepens HCLTech’s commitment to open, standards-based RAN automation for global service providers. The new additions focus on traffic balancing, energy optimization, and 5G network slicing, aiming to accelerate network automation and efficiency across 4G and 5G networks as of March 03, 2026.

HCLTech Expands Ericsson Integration with New Automation Tools

On March 03, 2026, HCLTech, a leading global technology company, announced a significant enhancement to its collaboration with Ericsson by adding three new network automation RAN applications (rApps) to the commercially available Ericsson rApp Directory. This directory supports the Ericsson Intelligent Automation Platform (EIAP).

This move is designed to expand HCLTech’s contribution to open, standards-based RAN automation, enabling communication service providers globally to accelerate network automation through seamless, discoverable solutions.

The Three New Listed rApps

The three newly listed rApps address critical operational needs for modern telecommunication networks:

  • Traffic Balancer rApp: This application analyzes real-time network conditions and dynamically redistributes traffic across available paths to effectively minimize congestion and significantly reduce latency.
  • Energy Optimizer rApp: Designed for efficiency, this tool scales base station resources down during low-traffic periods, thereby improving energy efficiency without negatively impacting overall service quality.
  • Network Slice Optimizer rApp: This addresses 5G requirements by allocating specific physical resource blocks necessary to support multiple 5G network slices, ensuring distinct service-level requirements are consistently met.

Commitment to Open Ecosystems

Hari Sadarahalli, Corporate Vice President and Global Head of Engineering and R&D Services at HCLTech, emphasized the strategic value of these additions. He noted that these rApps highlight HCLTech’s dedication to productizing network automation within standardized, open ecosystems. By leveraging the Ericsson EIAP framework, HCLTech aims to deliver modular and interoperable solutions that simplify integration, accelerate deployment, and drive efficiency across both 4G and 5G networks.

HCLTech, which reported consolidated revenues of $14.5 billion for the 12 months ending December 2025, continues to focus on leveraging its global capabilities across AI, digital, engineering, and cloud services to help operators scale 5G and embrace autonomous networking.
