GAIL (India) Limited has signed a Tripartite Concession Agreement with the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) to set up a Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plant in Bengaluru. The project aims to convert municipal solid waste into CBG and organic manure, promoting sustainable waste management and green energy generation. The Concession Agreement is valid for 25 years.
Bengaluru Bio-Gas Plant Project
GAIL (India) Limited has formalized an agreement to establish a Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plant in Bengaluru. The agreement, signed on October 16, 2025, is a Tripartite Concession Agreement involving the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML).
Agreement Details
Under the agreement, the GBA will provide 18 acres of land. BSWML will supply 300 tons of segregated municipal solid waste per day. This waste will be processed to produce 12.6 tons per day of CBG.
Environmental Benefits
The plant is expected to produce approximately 22 tons of Fermented Organic Manure (FOM) daily, which will support circular economy and sustainable agriculture practices. The Concession Agreement is set to remain in effect for 25 years from the project’s commissioning date.
