Dabur India Court Grants Stay on GST Demand of ₹110.39 Crore

Dabur India has secured a favorable order from the Allahabad High Court, granting a stay on a GST demand of ₹110.39 crore. The demand, raised by the Additional Director, DGGI, Coimbatore, pertained to the period from FY 2018-19 to FY 2023-24, questioning the classification of a product. The court’s decision provides temporary relief to the company as the matter is further deliberated.

Relief from GST Demand

Dabur India received a show cause notice from the Additional Director, DGGI, Coimbatore, regarding a GST demand. The notice covered a period of 6 years, from FY 2018-19 to FY 2023-24.

Court Intervention

Dabur India challenged the show cause notice by filing a writ petition before the Allahabad High Court. The High Court has granted a “complete stay” on the demand.

Financial Impact

The GST demand amounted to ₹110.39 crore and was raised under Section 74 of the CGST Act, 2017. It involved questioning the classification of the product with interest and penalty as applicable.

The order granting the stay was issued on October 10, 2025, and Dabur India received notification of the order on October 15, 2025, at 10:50 AM.
