Coromandel International has commenced trial production for its new Phosphoric Acid (PA) and Sulphuric Acid (SA) plants at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, as indicated in their earlier January 2024 disclosure. This critical development marks the transformation of the Kakinada unit into a fully integrated facility. Operations are stabilizing, targeting rated capacities of 650 TPD for PA and 2,000 TPD for SA, aiming to enhance internal supply security and reduce import dependence.
Milestone Achieved at Kakinada Unit
Coromandel International Limited announced today, March 6, 2026, that it has successfully initiated trial production at its newly established Phosphoric Acid (PA) and Sulphuric Acid (SA) manufacturing facilities located in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. This action aligns with the company’s previous commitment to commission these facilities during Quarter 4 of FY 2025-26.
Capacity and Integration Details
The company is currently stabilizing operations, planning a phased ramp-up to achieve the full rated capacities. These capacities are set at 650 Tonnes Per Day (TPD) for the Phosphoric Acid plant and 2,000 TPD for the Sulphuric Acid plant.
This successful commissioning is highlighted as a significant milestone, transforming the Kakinada site into a fully integrated facility. The strategic benefit of this development is twofold: it substantially enhances the company’s overall production capability while simultaneously reducing its dependency on imported key raw materials necessary for fertiliser manufacturing.
