Bharti Hexacom Faces Penalty for Subscriber Verification Issues

Bharti Hexacom has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) imposing a penalty of ₹2,92,000. The penalty is related to alleged violations of subscriber verification norms. The company is contesting the penalty, stating the maximum financial impact is limited to the penalty amount and the matter is currently under legal review with the Hon’ble TDSAT.

Penalty Notice Received

Bharti Hexacom has been notified by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of a penalty for alleged non-compliance with subscriber verification protocols. The notice, received on December 22, 2025, includes a penalty of ₹2,92,000.

Reason for the Penalty

The penalty stems from a Customer Application Form Audit (CAF Audit) conducted by the DoT. The audit revealed alleged discrepancies relating to subscriber verification processes. As a licensee, Bharti Hexacom is required to thoroughly verify customer information before enrollment, adhering to DoT guidelines.

Company Response

Bharti Hexacom maintains that the financial implication is capped at the penalty amount. The company also disclosed that this matter is currently under review before Hon’ble TDSAT, where the applicable penalty rates are being contested.
