The notices impose penalties of ₹1,01,000 for Maharashtra and ₹1,34,000 for Uttar Pradesh (East). The company has opted to pay the penalties without contesting them. These penalties relate to sample Customer Application Form (CAF) audits conducted for August 2025 and May 2025 respectively.
Penalties for Verification Issues
Bharti Airtel has received notices from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) concerning alleged non-compliance with subscriber verification norms in two License Service Areas (LSAs).
Maharashtra LSA Penalty
A penalty of ₹1,01,000 has been imposed by the Maharashtra LSA of the DoT. The notice, received on October 24, 2025, pertains to alleged violations identified during a Customer Application Form (CAF) audit conducted in August 2025. The audit found discrepancies related to subscriber verification norms.
Uttar Pradesh (East) LSA Penalty
The Uttar Pradesh (East) LSA of the DoT has levied a penalty of ₹1,34,000. This notice was also received on October 24, 2025, and stems from a CAF audit performed in May 2025. Similar to the Maharashtra case, the penalty is for alleged breaches of subscriber verification protocols.
Company Response
Bharti Airtel has chosen not to contest either of the penalties and will proceed with payment. The company states that the maximum financial impact from these issues is limited to the amount of the penalties themselves.
