APAR Industries Enters Railway Telecom Infrastructure with ₹156.9 Crore Contract

APAR Industries has entered the railway telecom infrastructure sector, securing a ₹156.9 Crore EPC contract with South Eastern Railway. This involves supplying, erecting, testing, and commissioning telecom towers and optical fiber cable infrastructure across 1,563 route kilometers. The project, expected to be completed in two years, will support Indian Railways’ signaling system upgrade.

Expanding into Railway Infrastructure

APAR Industries is expanding its business into the railway signalling and telecom infrastructure sector. The company has been awarded a significant EPC contract by South Eastern Railway, marking a strategic move into this area.

Contract Details and Project Scope

The contract, valued at ₹156.9 Crore (inclusive of GST), focuses on upgrading railway signalling systems and enhancing automation and operational efficiency. APAR will be responsible for:

  • Supplying telecom towers.
  • Erection of equipment.
  • Testing and commissioning.
  • Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) Backbone infrastructure.

This infrastructure will span approximately 1,563 route kilometers (RKM) and is vital for the deployment of the Kavach system, an indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) designed to prevent train collisions.

Projected Timeline and Benefits

The project is scheduled to be executed over a two-year period. APAR’s role supports Indian Railways’ nationwide upgrade, aiming for safer and more connected railway networks.

The project will allow APAR to expand its revenue streams and build a scalable Telecom EPC platform, addressing mission-critical national projects.

Investment Details

While no significant capital expenditure (capex) is anticipated for this project, APAR estimates that the working capital required could be approximately Rs. 10 crores.
