Adani Cement To Deploy World’s First Commercial RotoDynamic Heater

Adani Cement will deploy Coolbrook’s RotoDynamic Heater™ (RDH™) technology at its Boyareddypalli plant in Andhra Pradesh. This marks the first commercial deployment of the RDH™ technology in the industrial sector, aiming to reduce ~60,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, with potential for a 10x increase. The system will be powered entirely by Adani Cement’s renewable energy portfolio.

First RotoDynamic Heater Deployment

Adani Cement and Coolbrook have reached an agreement to deploy Coolbrook’s RotoDynamic Heater™ (RDH™) technology at Adani Cement’s Boyareddypalli Integrated Cement Plant in Andhra Pradesh, India. This initiative marks a significant step towards cement decarbonization.

Decarbonizing Cement Production

The deployment is projected to reduce ~60,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually with potential to increase tenfold as the technology is scaled up. The RDH™ will decarbonise the calcination phase, which is the most fossil fuel-intensive stage of cement production. The project will also support increasing the use of alternative fuel resources to 30% by FY28 and achieving a 60% green power share by FY28.

Renewable Powered System

Adani Cement’s renewable energy portfolio will completely power the RotoDynamic Heater™ system, thereby ensuring that the industrial heat generated is carbon emission free.

Executive Commentary

Mr. Vinod Bahety, CEO – Cement Business, Adani Group, stated that the deployment of Coolbrook’s RotoDynamic Heater™ represents a pivotal moment in the company’s decarbonization efforts and marks a major leap towards achieving net-zero goals.

Industry Collaboration

Adani Cement’s leadership in sustainability is also shown by its SBTi-validated net-zero targets and global collaborations, including joining the Alliance for Industry Decarbonisation (AFID) under IRENA.
