Adani Power Joint Venture for 570 MW Hydroelectric Project in Bhutan

Adani Power has formed a joint venture with Druk Green Power Corp. of Bhutan to develop a 570 MW hydroelectric project in Wangchhu, Bhutan. The new company, named Wangchhu Hydroelectric Power Limited, was officially incorporated on October 15, 2025. Adani Power holds a 49% share in the venture.

Hydroelectric Project Partnership

Adani Power Limited (APL) and Druk Green Power Corp. Ltd. (DGPC), Bhutan’s state-owned utility, have formalized a joint venture to establish a 570 MW hydroelectric project at Wangchhu in Bhutan. The initial agreement for this collaboration was disclosed on September 6, 2025.

Wangchhu Hydroelectric Power Limited

Following the agreement, APL and DGPC have jointly incorporated Wangchhu Hydroelectric Power Limited in Bhutan. The company was incorporated on October 15, 2025. The shareholding structure is 49% for APL and 51% for DGPC.

Financial Commitment

The authorized capital of WHPL is BTN 30 Billion, divided into 300 Million shares of BTN 100 each. Adani Power’s initial contribution is BTN 490 Million, while DGPC’s initial contribution is BTN 510 Million.

Project Status

Wangchhu Hydroelectric Power Limited is yet to commence its business operations. The joint venture will focus on the generation and sale of power.
