ACME Solar Holdings Commissions 143 MW / 481 MWh Battery Energy Storage System in Rajasthan

ACME Solar Holdings has successfully commissioned 142.67 MW / 481.49 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Rajasthan. This marks Phase 1 of its planned 585 MW / 2011.24 MWh BESS capacity. The system will enhance grid reliability by managing peak and non-peak demand, operating initially on a merchant basis before integration with future dedicated green energy projects.

ACME Solar Commissions Significant BESS Capacity

On March 13, 2026, ACME Solar Holdings Ltd announced the commissioning of a major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) phase in Rajasthan. Through its subsidiaries, the company has completed 142.67 MW / 481.49 MWh of BESS capacity.

This commissioning is part of the company’s larger plan to install a total BESS capacity of 585 MW / 2011.24 MWh across its Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). Overall, the current company portfolio targets the installation of approximately ~17 GWh of BESS across various states in multiple phases.

Operational Strategy and Grid Impact

The newly commissioned BESS facilities in Rajasthan are connected to the existing operational Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS). Initially, they will operate on a merchant basis, capitalizing on the price differential between peak and non-peak demand hours to generate additional revenue streams.

The long-term plan involves integrating these BESS units with respective FDRE (Flexible Derating Energy) projects, after which they will operate under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a duration of 25 years.

The primary technical function of these batteries is to enhance grid reliability and optimize power utilization by charging during off-peak periods and discharging during peak demand, thereby contributing significantly to overall grid stability.

ACME Solar Portfolio Overview

ACME Solar Holdings positions itself as a leading integrated renewable energy player. The company’s current portfolio spans 8,071 MW, covering solar, wind, storage, FDRE, and hybrid solutions.

Key capacity figures as of the announcement include:

  • Operational Contracted Capacity: 2,966 MW and 481 MWh of BESS capacity.
  • Under Construction Contracted Capacity: 5,105 MW, which includes approximately ~16.5 GWh of BESS installation.
  • Under Construction PPA Signed Portfolio: Stands at 3,304 MW.

The company manages end-to-end development and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) in-house, emphasizing time and cost-effective delivery and achieving industry-leading Customer Utility Factor (CUF) and operating margins.
