IEX Analyst Meet 2026: Performance and Outlook

In the IEX Analyst Meet 2026, Chairman and Managing Director Satyanarayan Goel highlighted India’s strong economic growth and its impact on the power sector. FY’26 saw a 17% increase in annual electricity trade, reaching 141 billion units, and a consolidated revenue growth of 13.6% to ₹747 crore. Profit After Tax (PAT) stood at ₹492 crore, an almost 15% increase. The Real-Time Market (RTM) emerged as a standout performer, with volume increasing by 41%. For the first quarter of the current year, electricity volume grew by 16%, with revenue of ₹202.8 crore and PAT of ₹134.8 crore.

Product Development and Market Expansion

IEX is actively seeking CERC approval for new products, including the Green RTM Market, Peak Power Contracts for DAM and RTM, and extending Term Ahead Market contracts from 3 to 11 months. The company’s gas exchange, IGX, completed 5 years of operations, trading 76.8 million MMBtu of gas with a profit of ₹42 crore. A draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) for IGX’s IPO has been filed. The launch of the Indian Coal Exchange (ICX) is also anticipated, with initial trading expected to reach 100 million tonnes annually. The emergence of new market models like Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) contracts are expected to drive further growth.

Regulatory Landscape and Future Strategies

Discussions also covered the draft National Electricity Policy (NEP), aiming for 2,000 units of per capita electricity consumption by 2030. The market coupling process, though facing complexities and legal challenges, is seen as a significant development. IEX is also focusing on technology adoption, including API-led integration for customers, AI-based bidding solutions, and enhancing cybersecurity. The company anticipates continued growth driven by increasing energy demand, electrification, and the evolution of market mechanisms.
