Dr. Som Nath Sachdeva’s appointment is effective for a period of three years from the date of notification, or until further orders are issued. This appointment has been made through a resolution passed by circulation on 18th July 2026, as per the terms and conditions stipulated in the Ministry of Power’s order.
Confirmation of Eligibility
In compliance with relevant circulars from BSE and NSE, NTPC confirms that Dr. Som Nath Sachdeva is not debarred from holding the office of Director by any order from the Securities and Exchange Board of India or any other authority. Furthermore, it is confirmed that he does not hold any shares in NTPC Limited.
Dr. Som Nath Sachdeva’s Profile
Dr. Som Nath Sachdeva is currently the Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, a NAAC A++ accredited State University. He has also served as Vice Chancellor (additional charge) for three other Government Universities in Haryana. Dr. Sachdeva holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with specialization in Transportation Engineering and possesses over 39 years of distinguished experience in academics, research, and consultancy. He previously served as a Professor at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra. His academic contributions include over 100 research papers, three authored books, and supervision of numerous postgraduate and doctoral research scholars. He has also led several sponsored research and consultancy projects. Dr. Sachdeva has been recognized with several national honours, including the Outstanding Vice Chancellor of India (2025) and the Platinum Award from the Government of Haryana for excellence in implementing NEP 2020.
