Tata Power has submitted its Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) for the financial year ending March 31, 2026. The report, released on June 10, 2026, provides a comprehensive overview of the company’s performance in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) areas. This disclosure is in line with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

Key Performance Highlights

Energy Consumption and Emissions

For FY26, Tata Power reported total energy consumption of 36,12,22,833 GJ, with 6,83,014 GJ sourced from renewable energy. The company’s total Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions stood at 2,60,66,679 metric tonnes of CO2 equivalent. The report also details initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including transitioning from thermal power plants and ramping up renewable energy investments. Energy intensity was reported at 0.0005672 GJ per rupee of turnover.

Water Management

Total water withdrawal in FY26 was 3,70,45,63,485 kilolitres, with a total consumption of 1,15,32,988 kilolitres. The company is progressing towards Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) at its major thermal power plants and solar panel manufacturing facilities. Water intensity was 0.0000181 KI per rupee of turnover.

Waste Management

In FY26, the total waste generated was 55,85,113 metric tonnes, with a significant portion of 37,70,847 metric tonnes recovered through recycling, re-using, or other recovery operations. Initiatives include managing fly ash and chemical sludge responsibly and advancing end-of-life management strategies for PV solar panels.

Employee Well-being and Diversity

Tata Power reported detailed measures for employee well-being, including health insurance and maternity benefits. The company emphasizes fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, with data on permanent employees and workers. The gross wages paid to females constituted 9% of total wages paid in FY26.

Stakeholder Engagement and Governance

The report outlines extensive stakeholder engagement mechanisms, including interactions with communities, investors, employees, and customers. Tata Power maintains a robust Business Continuity and Disaster Management Plan, certified under ISO 22301:2012. The company also disclosed its participation in trade and industry chambers and its public policy advocacy efforts.

Assurance Statement

An independent assurance statement from TUV India Private Limited confirms that the Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) Core disclosures have been prepared in all material respects, in accordance with the applicable BRSR Core criteria. The report also covers nine BRSR principles, including Essential and Leadership Indicators, and selected GRI disclosures.

The assurance engagement included a Reasonable Assurance over BRSR Core indicators and a Limited Assurance over non-Core BRSR disclosures and selected GRI disclosures. TUVI confirmed that no conflicts of interest existed in relation to the assurance engagement.
