POWERGRID is pleased to announce a significant leadership transition. Effective June 1, 2026, Shri Sunil Kumar has been promoted to the role of Executive Director (ED). This appointment places him in the Senior Management Personnel cadre, positioning him one level below the company’s Board of Directors.
Sunil Kumar’s Extensive Experience
Shri Sunil Kumar is a distinguished expert in the power sector, boasting more than three decades of experience at POWERGRID. He commenced his journey with the company as an Executive Trainee in 1994. Throughout his career, Mr. Kumar has been instrumental in managing key responsibilities across a wide spectrum of functions, including ULDC, LD&C, AC Substation O&M, NTAMC, GA&C, and Information Security. His leadership has spanned critical assignments in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Patna, and Manesar, focusing on vital areas such as real-time grid management, system operations, network monitoring, and digital safety.
Contributions to Grid Advancement
In his current capacity, Shri Sunil Kumar plays a pivotal role in advancing Grid Automation & Communication initiatives. He is also a key driver in enhancing POWERGRID’s cybersecurity preparedness and promoting technology-driven governance across the organization.
