The bank has affirmed that Mr. Bhatia is not related to any existing Director on the Board. Furthermore, ICICI Bank confirms that Mr. Bhatia is not subject to any debarment from holding a directorial office by any order from regulatory authorities.
Mr. Ashwani Bhatia’s Extensive Background
Mr. Ashwani Bhatia possesses a distinguished career spanning over 40 years in financial markets and banking. He previously served as a Whole Time Member at the Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) from June 2022 to May 2025, where he oversaw key departments including Debt and Hybrid Securities, and Market Intermediaries Regulation. Prior to his tenure at SEBI, Mr. Bhatia had a long and impactful association of approximately 37 years with the State Bank Group.
During his extensive career at the State Bank Group, Mr. Bhatia held numerous leadership positions across various functions and businesses. He retired from his role as the Managing Director of SBI. Before this, he also served as the Managing Director & CEO of SBI Funds Management Limited. His expertise covers treasury operations, retail banking, credit, investment banking, and asset management.
