Strategic Expansion in Tamil Nadu

On May 25, 2026, Lemon Tree Hotels Limited announced the signing of a new hotel in the historic city of Kumbakonam. This latest addition is part of the company’s broader roadmap to expand across high-potential Tier II and Tier III cities in India. With this signing, the group’s footprint in Tamil Nadu now reaches eight hotels, consisting of six operational properties and two upcoming projects.

Hotel Features and Accessibility

The upcoming Lemon Tree Hotel, Kumbakonam, is designed to provide a comfortable experience for pilgrims and business travellers alike. The property will house 66 well-appointed rooms along with a range of modern amenities, including a multi-cuisine restaurant, versatile banquet spaces, a business meeting room, a swimming pool, a spa, and a fitness center.

The hotel offers strong connectivity, located approximately 101 km from the Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) International Airport and situated just 300 meters from the Kumbakonam Railway Station, ensuring a convenient 5-minute transit for arriving guests.

Focus on Spiritual and Cultural Corridors

Management emphasized that expanding into iconic spiritual destinations is a key strategic priority. By establishing a presence in Kumbakonam, often referred to as the ‘Temple Town’ of Tamil Nadu, the brand aims to tap into the steady demand from cultural travellers. The location, which maintains close proximity to regional hubs like Thanjavur and Trichy, is expected to be a significant addition to the company’s growing portfolio of over 250 properties.
