GAIL (India) Limited has provided an official update regarding the cessation of Shri Kushagra Mittal as a Government Nominee Director. His tenure concluded on May 15, 2026. The company clarified that multiple follow-up communications were sent to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas prior to the deadline, and the official disclosure was finalized once the term expired, ensuring transparency regarding its board composition and leadership structure.

Clarification on Board Changes

GAIL (India) Limited has clarified the circumstances surrounding the departure of Shri Kushagra Mittal from his role as a Government Nominee Director. Shri Mittal was originally appointed by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on May 16, 2023, for a fixed term of three years.

Tenure and Disclosure Process

According to the company’s update, the appointment of the director was on a co-terminus basis, valid until May 15, 2026. To ensure a smooth transition, GAIL proactively communicated with the Ministry on several occasions throughout early 2026, specifically on March 2, March 30, April 15, May 5, and May 15, 2026, to highlight the impending completion of the director’s tenure.

Despite these repeated efforts, formal communication from the Ministry was not received prior to the expiry of the term. Consequently, the company proceeded with the necessary disclosure on May 19, 2026, to ensure that stakeholders remained informed about the updated status of the board membership.
