Maruti Suzuki India Limited Commercial Production Commences at Second Kharkhoda Plant

Maruti Suzuki has officially commenced commercial production at its second manufacturing plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana. With an additional annual capacity of 250,000 units, the expansion elevates the company’s total annual production capacity to 2.65 million units. This milestone aligns with the company’s strategic growth plan for FY 2026–27 and reflects ongoing efforts to scale manufacturing capabilities to meet rising market demand for its SUV lineup.

Expanding Manufacturing Footprint

As of May 18, 2026, Maruti Suzuki has successfully launched operations at its new facility in Kharkhoda. The second plant mirrors the initial 250,000-unit capacity of the first plant, which commenced operations in February 2025. This strategic addition is a critical component of the company’s long-term production roadmap, supporting its ability to ramp up output for popular models like the Brezza and Victoris.

Capacity Breakdown and Future Outlook

Following this expansion, the company’s aggregate annual production capacity across its key manufacturing hubs now stands at 2.65 million units. The current regional production distribution is as follows:

  • Gurugram: 0.5 million units
  • Manesar: 0.9 million units
  • Hansalpur: 0.75 million units
  • Kharkhoda: 0.5 million units

Looking ahead, the Kharkhoda facility is positioned to become one of the company’s largest production centers, with a planned ultimate capacity to produce 1 million vehicles per annum. This consistent growth trajectory remains in line with the manufacturer’s target to add 5 lakh units of capacity throughout the FY 2026–27 period.
