SJVN Limited has announced the appointment of Shri Suprakash Adhikari as the new Director (Projects), effective May 12, 2026. Shri Adhikari, who currently serves as the Director (Technical) of NHPC Limited, brings over 36 years of extensive experience in hydropower development. He takes over the role following the conclusion of the tenure of the former Director (Projects), Shri Sushil Sharma, whose service ended on July 31, 2025.

Following an order from the Ministry of Power dated May 12, 2026, SJVN Limited has officially welcomed Shri Suprakash Adhikari to lead its Projects division. He assumes this additional charge while continuing his current responsibilities as the Director (Technical) at NHPC Limited. The appointment is for a period of one year or until the appointment of a regular incumbent, whichever comes first.
Profile and Expertise
Shri Adhikari holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology, Shibpur. Throughout his distinguished 36-year career, he has gained deep expertise in all stages of hydropower development, from initial project inception to final commissioning. His track record includes overseeing operational excellence initiatives and leading critical engineering milestones across several major power stations, including the 800 MW Parbati II and the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower hydro projects.
Strategic Contribution
SJVN aims to leverage Shri Adhikari’s vast technical background to further its clean energy goals. His previous leadership as Head of the O&M Division at NHPC resulted in record-breaking annual generation and improved plant performance. By integrating his expertise in hydro and pumped storage projects, the company expects to strengthen its contribution to the Government of India’s Net Zero ambitions and accelerate the delivery of its ongoing infrastructure pipeline.
