Awfis Space Solutions Limited has announced the successful resolution of ongoing tax litigation involving the GST Department for financial years 2019-20 through 2024-25. Following a series of inspections and notices initiated in June 2025, the tax authorities have dropped the majority of the demands, totaling over INR 7.61 crore in initial claims. The company has officially settled all outstanding matters by paying a nominal interest amount of INR 55,568.
Background of Tax Proceedings
The tax matter originated following an inspection of the company’s premises conducted on November 6, 2024. The GST Department subsequently issued a show-cause notice (DRC-01) covering financial years 2019-20 to 2024-25, with an initial aggregate demand of INR 7,61,11,128. Throughout the process, the company proactively submitted detailed replies and documentation to substantiate its tax positions for each affected financial year.
Resolution and Final Outcome
Following comprehensive reviews of the company’s submissions, the GST Department issued final orders under Section 74 for all relevant financial years, effectively dropping the substantial demands previously raised. Specifically, significant demands for FY 2019-20, FY 2020-21, FY 2021-22, FY 2022-23, FY 2023-24, and FY 2024-25 have been set aside.
Financial Impact
While the department raised minor interest demands for certain years, the principal tax liabilities were fully waived. On May 12, 2026, the company fulfilled its remaining obligation by paying INR 55,568 in interest. With this payment, all proceedings concerning these financial years are now concluded, and there are no further outstanding liabilities or legal disputes regarding these assessments.
