Nestlé India: Signs MOU with Ministry for Food Processing Industries at World Food India Summit

Nestlé India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) to accelerate investments in green and brown field projects. The agreement focuses on projects in Odisha and existing manufacturing locations. The MOU was formalized at the World Food India Summit 2025 in New Delhi, solidifying Nestlé’s dedication to India’s growth story and its commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Strategic Collaboration with Ministry

Nestlé India has reinforced its commitment to India by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI). This collaboration aims to expedite investments in both greenfield and brownfield projects, particularly in Odisha and at Nestlé’s established manufacturing sites. The MoU was officially signed at the World Food India Summit 2025 held in New Delhi.

The partnership with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries highlights Nestlé India’s focus on expanding its footprint and enhancing its manufacturing capabilities within the country. This includes new projects in Odisha and upgrades to existing facilities.

Mr. Kunwar Himmat Singh, Head, Corporate Affairs, Nestlé India, highlighted Nestlé India’s long-standing presence of over 113 years in India. Nestlé collaborates with over 100,000 farmers, including those involved in dairy, coffee, spices, wheat, sugarcane, and rice production, supported by strong supplier partnerships. The company operates nine factories across India, manufacturing products that reach consumers through a network of 10,000 distributors and redistributors, serving 5.2 million retail outlets.

Societal Initiatives

Nestlé India’s societal initiatives have positively impacted more than 16 million lives through various programs. These include nutrition awareness initiatives, education programs, waste management efforts, access to clean drinking water, sanitation projects, feeding support, and training for street food vendors on food safety and hygiene. Nestlé India also actively participates in village adoption initiatives to improve community welfare.
