Federal Bank delivered a robust performance in Q4 FY26, achieving a record quarterly net profit of ₹1,145 crore, marking a nearly 10% sequential growth. The bank’s total business reached ₹5,78,959 crore, supported by a calibrated shift toward a granular balance sheet. Key highlights include crossing the ₹1 lakh crore milestone in both CASA and NRI deposits, while maintaining strong asset quality with GNPA at 1.62%.

Strong Financial Performance

The bank reported a standout quarter, driven by healthy Net Interest Income (NII) and disciplined cost management. The net profit of ₹1,145 crore represents a milestone for the organization. Profitability metrics showed resilience, with ROA reaching 1.24% and ROE improving to 12.47%, indicating a successful return to pre-rate cut levels.

Liability Franchise and Deposit Growth

A primary driver of the bank’s stability is its focus on retail liabilities. CASA balances surpassed ₹1,03,390 crore, growing 21% year-on-year, while the CASA ratio improved to 32.94%. The bank’s NRI deposit franchise, a key differentiator, also crossed the ₹1 lakh crore mark, reflecting deepened customer trust and engagement.

Asset Quality and Business Segments

The bank’s asset quality remains robust, with GNPA declining to 1.62% and NNPA reaching a record low of 0.37%. The focus on high-yield and granular assets continues to pay off. Commercial banking remains the primary engine, growing 26% year-on-year, while the gold loan portfolio expanded by 26% year-on-year. Furthermore, the bank has successfully maintained a provision coverage ratio of 76.55%.

Strategic Outlook

Looking ahead to FY27, the bank remains committed to a calibrated growth strategy. Management emphasized that the focus will continue to be on risk-adjusted profitability and strengthening the franchise. With the expansion of 39 new branches in the last quarter and a plan to open approximately 100 more in the coming year, the bank is well-positioned for consistent performance across market cycles.
