Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has announced robust growth for the fiscal year 2025-26, recording Rs. 33,782 crore in annual revenue, a 19% year-on-year increase. The company achieved a significant turnaround, with annual Profit After Tax reaching Rs. 1,578 crore. BHEL ended the year with its highest-ever outstanding order book of ~Rs. 2,40,000 crore, driven by strong performance in the power sector and strategic diversification into new industrial segments.
Annual Financial Performance
For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, BHEL demonstrated strong financial momentum. The company reported a total annual revenue of Rs. 33,782 crore, reflecting a steady 19% growth compared to the previous year. Profitability improved significantly, with the annual Profit After Tax (PAT) surging to Rs. 1,578 crore from Rs. 513 crore in FY25. The fourth quarter alone contributed Rs. 12,310 crore in revenue and Rs. 1,283 crore in PAT, underscoring a strong finish to the financial year.
Record-Breaking Order Book
BHEL secured its highest-ever outstanding order book of ~Rs. 2,40,000 crore as of March 31, 2026. This portfolio is well-balanced across key sectors: 81% in Power, 18% in Industry, and 1% in Export. During FY26, the company recorded total order inflows of Rs. 75,916 crore. Major wins in the final quarter included the 3×800 MW Telangana Stage-II supercritical thermal power project and the 382 MW Sunni Dam hydroelectric electromechanical package.
Operational Milestones and Diversification
Operational execution remained a core focus, with the company commissioning or synchronizing approximately 8.9 GW of power capacity during the year. Beyond its traditional power base, BHEL is successfully diversifying into new segments. The company received its maiden orders in the coal-to-chemical business and made significant strides in the rail signaling segment by securing an order for the ‘Kavach’ system. Additionally, R&D remains a priority, with ~2.4% of annual revenue reinvested into innovation, including the development of critical ultra-supercritical boiler components.
Sustainability Initiatives
Aligned with its mission for a ‘Viksit Bharat,’ BHEL continues to advance its Net Zero by 2047 goal. The company has integrated sustainable practices across its operations, including the installation of ~43 MWp of solar capacity and the planting of 44,000+ saplings in the last fiscal year. Twelve manufacturing units have achieved GreenCo certification, reflecting the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and efficient waste and water management systems.
