Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has announced the appointment of Shri Kota Ravi as the company’s new Chairman and Managing Director. Effective May 1, 2026, Shri Ravi steps into the leadership role following his tenure as Director (Operations). He brings over 30 years of extensive experience in the aerospace and defence sectors and will serve until his superannuation on June 30, 2029, or until further government directives.
Leadership Transition
Following a directive from the Ministry of Defence, the Board of Directors of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has officially appointed Shri Kota Ravi to lead the organization. As the new Chairman & Managing Director, he will draw a pay scale of Rs. 2,00,000 – 3,70,000 (IDA). Shri Ravi takes charge at a critical juncture as the company continues to focus on global expansion and technological innovation.
Professional Background and Expertise
Shri Kota Ravi is an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad and IAS, Toulouse, France, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Malnad College of Engineering. Over his three-decade career, he has held various strategic roles, including Executive Director of the LCA Tejas Division and Executive Director (Corporate Planning). His leadership was instrumental in the company achieving Maharatna status.
Strategic Contributions to Aerospace
During his previous leadership roles, Shri Ravi played a pivotal role in securing and executing significant contracts, including the supply of 180 LCA Tejas aircraft to the Indian Air Force and 156 LCH Prachand helicopters. His focus on indigenous capabilities, the expansion of production capacity in Nasik, and the creation of a robust private-sector manufacturing ecosystem for fuselage assemblies have been key drivers of the company’s recent operational success. Under his guidance, the company has also successfully diversified into civil manufacturing and MRO services.
