National Fertilizers Limited Appointment of Shri Kuntal Sensarma as Government Nominee Director

National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) has announced the appointment of Shri Kuntal Sensarma as an Additional Director and Government Nominee Director on the company’s Board. Effective April 17, 2026, he succeeds Dr. Prathibha A.. Mr. Sensarma, a 1995-batch Indian Economic Service (IES) officer, currently serves as the Senior Economic Adviser in the Department of Fertilizers and holds additional responsibilities at other major fertilizer public sector undertakings.

Leadership Change at the Board Level

National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) has officially appointed Shri Kuntal Sensarma to its Board of Directors. The appointment, effective as of April 17, 2026, follows the stepping down of Dr. Prathibha A.. Mr. Sensarma joins the company in the capacity of a Government Nominee Director, bringing extensive experience in economic policy and public administration to the leadership team.

Professional Background

Shri Kuntal Sensarma is an Indian Economic Service (IES) officer of the 1995 batch. He holds a strong academic foundation in Economics and Public Policy, including degrees from Presidency College, the University of Calcutta, and TERI University. Over his distinguished career, he has held significant roles across various government departments, including the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and the Ministry of Electronics & IT.

Current Responsibilities

In addition to his new role at NFL, Mr. Sensarma serves as the Senior Economic Adviser in the Department of Fertilizers, Government of India. He is also currently managing additional charges as the Chairman & Managing Director for both the Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited and Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Limited. His appointment is for a term of three years, or until his superannuation or further government orders, whichever is earliest.
