Mahanagar Gas Limited Announces Change in Leadership with New Managing Director Appointment

Mahanagar Gas Limited has announced a leadership transition, appointing Mr. Praveer Kumar Srivastava as the new Managing Director. Mr. Srivastava, a veteran with over three decades of experience at GAIL (India) Limited, will succeed Mr. Ashu Shinghal. The appointment is effective from April 30, 2026, and is set for a term of five consecutive years, marking a strategic move to drive the company’s ongoing growth and sustainability initiatives.

Leadership Transition at the Helm

Following a recommendation by the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, the Board of Directors of Mahanagar Gas Limited has approved the appointment of Mr. Praveer Kumar Srivastava as the Additional Director and Managing Director. Mr. Srivastava will assume his new responsibilities starting April 30, 2026, for a tenure lasting until April 29, 2031.

Profile of the Incoming Managing Director

Mr. Praveer Kumar Srivastava is a Chemical Engineer from IIT Kharagpur and a certified Energy Auditor. Over his extensive 30-year career at GAIL, he has held critical leadership roles in business development, gas management, and corporate strategy. He was a key figure in the development of GAIL’s Strategy 2030 and the company’s Net Zero Action roadmap. Furthermore, he has been instrumental in landmark projects including India’s first Hydrogen Blending Pilot Project and the implementation of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Green Hydrogen production facilities.

Strategic Outlook

Currently serving as the Executive Director of the Western Region for GAIL, Mr. Srivastava has managed operations and marketing for the Western Regional Pipeline Network. His leadership philosophy emphasizes operational safety, efficiency, and the integration of sustainable practices to create long-term value for stakeholders. As he steps into the role of Managing Director, he is expected to focus on maintaining a balance between business expansion and environmental responsibility, while steering the company toward its long-term growth objectives.

Departure of Outgoing Leadership

The company also confirmed the departure of Mr. Ashu Shinghal, who will step down from his position as Managing Director effective April 30, 2026, following a nomination withdrawal by GAIL. The Board expressed its appreciation for the significant contributions and leadership provided by Mr. Shinghal during his tenure.
