On April 8, 2026, The Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Limited finalized the execution of a Forest Lease Agreement (FLA) with the Deputy Conservator of Forests, Ballari Division. The agreement, which was registered at the Sandur Sub-Registrar Office, represents a critical step forward in the company’s efforts to streamline mineral transportation through the implementation of a Downhill Conveyor Pipe System (DCS).
Project Specifications
The DCS project involves the diversion of 2.4314 hectares of forest land located within the Swamimalai Forest Block in Deogiri, Sandur Taluk. This initiative is designed to establish an efficient transport link from the Kammathuru Iron Ore Mine (ML No. 2678) directly to the PMBR (BMM) siding. The project strictly adheres to all environmental conditions stipulated in the final approval granted by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on October 3, 2025, ensuring compliance with forest conservation standards while enhancing operational throughput.
