Tata Steel FY2026 Production and Delivery Volumes Reach Record Highs

Tata Steel has reported a strong performance for FY2026, achieving record-breaking annual crude steel production of 23.48 million tons in India. The company also recorded its best-ever annual delivery volumes of 22.53 million tons, marking a significant milestone as domestic deliveries crossed the 20 million ton threshold for the first time. Growth was driven by robust performance across key verticals, including automotive, branded products, and industrial projects.

Annual Production and Delivery Milestones

Tata Steel India concluded the 2026 fiscal year with a record production volume of 23.48 million tons, representing an 8% year-on-year growth. This achievement was supported by the ramp-up of operations at Kalinganagar, despite maintenance-related shutdowns at the Jamshedpur facility. For the final quarter, 4QFY26 (January–March), production reached 6.25 million tons, a 15% increase compared to the same period last year.

Sales performance tracked strongly with production, resulting in 22.53 million tons delivered annually. The company noted that 4QFY26 volumes set a ‘best-ever’ quarterly record, with deliveries rising 10% year-on-year.

Performance Across Key Business Verticals

The company’s diverse product portfolio contributed to its strong annual showing:

  • Automotive & Special Products: Achieved record annual volumes of ~3.4 million tons, with a shift toward higher-end products growing by 11%.
  • Branded Products & Retail: Reached ~7.3 million tons in annual volume. Notable growth included a 28% increase for the Tata Steelium cold-rolled brand and 2.4 million tons for Tata Tiscon.
  • Industrial Products & Projects: Recorded ~7.2 million tons, with the engineering segment benefiting from new defense and shipbuilding contracts.
  • E-commerce Growth: Digital platforms Tata Steel Aashiyana and DigECA generated Rs 9,360 crores in Gross Merchandise Value, reflecting a 161% year-on-year surge.

Global Operations Update

International segments showed mixed results. Tata Steel Netherlands maintained stable production at ~6.7 million tons for the year. Meanwhile, Tata Steel UK produced 2.2 million tons, facing challenges from subdued market conditions, though the company is currently progressing with the installation of a ~3 MTPA Electric Arc Furnace at Port Talbot. Tata Steel Thailand saw an 11% delivery increase, bolstered by strong domestic rebar demand.
