Max Financial Services Board Announces Leadership Transition at Axis Max Life

Max Financial Services has announced a leadership change at its material subsidiary, Axis Max Life Insurance. Mr. Sanjay Vij has been appointed as an Additional Director in the Independent category, effective April 6, 2026. He will serve a term of five years, concluding on April 5, 2031, succeeding outgoing Independent Director Mr. Rajesh Khanna, who retires at the close of business on April 5, 2026.

Leadership Succession Plan

The Board of Directors of Axis Max Life Insurance has formalized the appointment of Mr. Sanjay Vij to the Board. This transition is part of the company’s long-term governance strategy. Mr. Vij is set to take office on April 6, 2026, serving a five-year tenure that extends through April 5, 2031. His appointment is subject to regularization by shareholders at the company’s upcoming Annual General Meeting.

Profile of the New Director

Mr. Sanjay Vij brings extensive experience to the role, having spent a significant portion of his career in the life insurance sector. His previous leadership roles include serving as Dy. CEO at Digit Life and Executive Director and Principal Officer at Exide Life. Additionally, he held various senior positions at HDFC Life from 2001 to 2021, ultimately serving as Group Head – Bancassurance and Chief Values Officer.

Academic and Professional Background

Prior to his long-standing career in insurance, Mr. Vij was associated with several prominent organizations, including HCL Limited, Blue Star, and Birla AT&T Communications Limited. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Gujarat Agriculture University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Faculty of Management Studies, MS University of Baroda.
