Ola Electric Roadster X+ 4.5 kWh Receives PLI Certification

Ola Electric has officially received the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) certification for its Roadster X+ 4.5 kWh model from the Global Automotive Research Centre (GARC). This milestone marks the first motorcycle in the Roadster portfolio to qualify for the scheme, confirming the company’s Domestic Value Addition (DVA) compliance. The achievement underscores Ola Electric’s commitment to deep localization and advancing indigenous technology within India’s rapidly expanding electric motorcycle market.

Key Certification Milestone

On April 3, 2026, Ola Electric announced a significant expansion in its electric vehicle portfolio. The Roadster X+ 4.5 kWh has successfully met the rigorous eligibility assessment requirements for the PLI-Auto Scheme. This certification verifies that the motorcycle achieves the required level of Domestic Value Addition (DVA), making it eligible for government incentives designed to promote local manufacturing and the development of an indigenous EV ecosystem.

Driving Innovation in Local Manufacturing

According to the company, this certification serves as a validation of Ola Electric’s focus on vertically integrated manufacturing and deep localization. By scaling operations at its Gigafactory and utilizing indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cells, the company continues to enhance its competitive edge. This strategy has allowed for material improvements in cost efficiencies, which the company aims to pass on to consumers through more accessible price points.

Strategic Price Reductions

In addition to the certification news, Ola Electric highlighted recent progress regarding the Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh model. Enabled by economies of scale at its manufacturing facilities, the company has implemented a major price reduction for this specific model, lowering it from ₹1,89,999 to ₹1,29,999. These units will be available in limited quantities during specific purchase windows as the company continues to solidify its position as a leader in India’s electric mobility transition.
