Coal India Limited Provisional Production and Offtake Performance for March 2026

Coal India Limited (CIL) has released its provisional performance data for March 2026 and the full fiscal year ending March 2026. The company recorded a total coal production of 84.5 million tonnes for the month and 768.1 million tonnes for the full year. Meanwhile, total offtake reached 69.5 million tonnes in March, bringing the annual total to 744.8 million tonnes as the company navigates varying demand trends across its subsidiaries.

Monthly Production Overview

For the month of March 2026, Coal India Limited achieved a total production of 84.5 million tonnes, marking a 1.5% decrease compared to the same month last year. Among its subsidiaries, MCL led production with 20.5 million tonnes, followed by SECL with 19.4 million tonnes. Despite the marginal monthly decline, subsidiaries like ECL and NCL showed positive growth trends of 4.4% and 7.9% respectively.

Annual Performance Summary (FY’26)

Looking at the full financial year from April 2025 to March 2026, CIL recorded an aggregate production of 768.1 million tonnes, a slight dip of 1.7% over the previous year. MCL remained the largest contributor to annual output with 218.3 million tonnes, while SECL contributed 176.3 million tonnes. Notably, SECL demonstrated robust annual growth of 5.3% compared to the previous fiscal year.

Offtake Performance

In terms of coal offtake, CIL reported 69.5 million tonnes for March 2026, reflecting a modest growth of 0.7% year-on-year. For the cumulative April 2025 – March 2026 period, total offtake stood at 744.8 million tonnes. While overall annual offtake saw a 2.4% decline, certain subsidiaries like SECL bucked the trend with a 4.6% increase in annual offtake, reaching 178.6 million tonnes.
