NTPC Group Capacity Surpasses 89,000 MW Following New Project Commissions

NTPC Group has expanded its power generation footprint, with its total installed capacity reaching 89,145 MW and commercial capacity climbing to 88,065 MW. This growth is driven by the commissioning of new solar and hybrid projects in Gujarat by its subsidiary, NTPC Green Energy Limited. These additions represent a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing transition toward a larger renewable energy portfolio and sustainable power generation.

Strategic Renewable Energy Expansion

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has announced the successful commencement of commercial operations for new projects in Gujarat, effective April 2, 2026. These initiatives involve the expansion of solar and hybrid energy capabilities, contributing directly to the group’s growing renewable energy target.

Project Breakdown

The newly operational capacities include:

  • 37.5 MW of solar power, representing the fourth part of a larger 150 MW solar project.
  • 13.2 MW of wind power, marking the seventh part of a 100 MW hybrid project that also includes 37.5 MW of solar capacity.

Impact on Group Capacity

These latest additions bring the NTPC Green Energy Limited group’s commercial capacity to 10,075.70 MW, with its total installed capacity now standing at 10,126.40 MW. On a consolidated basis, the wider NTPC Group has now reached a total installed capacity of 89,145 MW, solidifying its role as a key contributor to India’s energy infrastructure and green transition goals.
